LGBTQIA+ Therapy

Stigma, in any form, is an impediment to the well-being of those who experience it. LGBTQIA+ may face stressors such as homophobia, prejudice and mistreatment based on sexual orientation. Affirmative therapy can be helpful in developing coping tools and tackling challenges that are unique to the LGBTQIA+ population. Some of the issues that can be addressed in therapy are exploration of sexual orientation, coming out process, improving relationships and assisting families with understanding and accepting their LGBTQIA+ loved ones.

The coming out process for LGBTQIA+ can be emotionally challenging. Living authentically can be affirming when people feel safe and supported. Respectively, it can be extremely distressful when one does not have support or has experienced discrimination, harassment and has been marginalized.

Due to experiencing prejudice and homophobia, LGBTQIA+ population experience higher rates of depression, anxiety and substance use struggles. Our team specializes in treatment and addressing mental health issues that LGBTQIA+ encounter whether it’s related or unrelated to sexual orientation.
